Que (1) Will pension/family pension be received automatically after retirement/death?
Ans :- No, pension/family pension is a claim,for which prescribed form is required to be filled up as per the rule.
Que (2) which is the prescribed form for claim of pension after retirement from the government service ?
Ans :- Form 6 (under C.G. Civil Services Pension Rules, 1976), is the prescribed form, filled through Head of the Office.
Que (3) which is the prescribed form for claim of family pension in case of death during the service period ?
Ans :- In case of death during service period, Form 13 and Form 17, prescribed under C.G. Civil Services Pension Rules, 1976, are required to be submitted to the head of office, by legal heir of government servant.
Que (4) what documents/details will be submitted while filing claim in the prescribed form.
Ans :- Left hand finger and thumb impression, certified sample signature, certified height and identification mark, full address of the pensioner / family pensioner / gratuity beneficiary, details of family members, consent letter for recovery, name of the treasury, correspondence address, certified joint / single photograph etc. are required to be attached in the prescribed form.
Que (5) How to make payment of family pension if family pensioner is minor?
Ans :- In the case, where family pensioner is minor, it cannot be directly paid. So the family pension will be paid through his/her Valid Guardian till attaining the age of 18 years. For this a certificate of guardianship from competent court will be attached along with the pension case.
Que (6) Is it mandatory to mention date of birth along with family details?
Ans :- By mentioning date of birth in the family details, under the government scheme, the benefit of 20% increase in basic pension / family pension on attaining the age of 80 years, will be automatically expedited. Further, over the next 5 years basic/family pension will increase by 30%, 40%, 50% and 100%, respectively.
By mentioning date of birth in the family details, it will be convenient to calculate the prescribed age of 25years, in case of sanctioning family pension to children.
Que (7) What benefits can be obtained when the government servant is retired?
Ans :- Pension, Death cum retirement gratuity, deposit in family welfare fund, amount of group insurance scheme, final payment of general provident fund, and the amount of encashment of earned leave can be obtained as per the rule.
Que (8) What benefits can be obtained in case of death during the government service?
Ans :- Family pension, Death cum retirement gratuity, insurance claim of family welfare fund and group insurance scheme, deposit amount including interest of saving fund in group insurance scheme, final payment of general provident fund, and the amount of encashment of earned leave can be obtained as per the rule.
Que (9) what is the age of superannuation for retirement of the government servant?
Ans :- The age of superannuation as prescribed under Rule 56 of the Chhattisgarh fundamental Rules is the last day of the month in which the government servant attains the age of 62 years, except for some cadres. But if the date of birth of any government servant is the first date of the month, he/she will be retired on the last date of the preceding month.
Que (10) If the order for retirement is not received, can the service be continued even after the retirement age is completed?
Ans :- Every government servant very well knows his date of birth and at the time of his joining the service, the date of retirement is known to him and according to the fundamental rule 56.Retirement will take place when the retirement age is achieved, which is mandatory. Therefore, no attempt should be made to continue the service after the prescribed age, otherwise, there will be difficulty in resolving the pension case.
Que (11) What is the period of minimum qualifying service to avail pension on retirement?
Ans :- Minimum qualifying service of 10 years is necessary for availing pension on retirement , else there will be eligibility for service gratuity as per the rule 43 of the C.G. Civil Services Pension Rule 1976.
Que (12) What is the period of minimum qualifying service to avail death cum retirement gratuity benefit?
Ans :-As per the rule 44 of the C.G. Civil Services Pension Rule,1976 ,minimum qualifying service of 5 years is necessary to avail death cum retirement gratuity benefit.
Que (13)How long before the retirement, pension papers can be prepared?
Ans :- According to the rule 59 of C.G. Civil Services Pension Rules, 1976, pension papers can be completed 12 months before the retirement. Government servant should fill pension form such as Form No.13, 25, 26, etc. on his own with utmost care.
Que (14) Can the government servant opt for voluntary retirement before the prescribed age of retirement? What is the procedure adopted for this?
Ans- If the Government servant wants to opt for voluntary retirement after completion of 20 years of service; he can fill up the details in prescribed form no. 28, three months before the date of voluntary retirement and present it to the competent authority.
Que (15) what cautions should be taken by the Government servant during the service period to avoid glitches in getting basic pension / family pension within timeframe?
Ans :- 1. On the first page of the service book, ensure the correct name, date of birth, designation, academic qualification.
2. Every Government servant has the right to see his service records, which should be used cautiously to ensure the correctness of service book at regular intervals by signing it in the prescribed column of the first page of the Service Book.
3. Submit the details of the family of his / her in the form-3 to the Head of the office and to inform the office of any changes from time to time.
4. Absence period / applied leave and suspension period, if any, should be addressed and resolved before retirement.
5. In the event of overwriting/change in the date of birth entered originally, submit it with the old gradation list, academic qualification certificates etc. to head of the office to get the recognition of the same.
6. Pay fixation as a result of the timely revision of pay should be verified by the Head of the office and if excess payment of any kind is visible during verification, ensure the recovery of same with due notice to the Head of the office.
Que (16) What is qualifying service? How is it calculated?
Ans :- Subject to the provisions of the C.G. Civil Services Pension Rule 1976, qualifying service of a Government servant shall commence from the date he takes charge of the post to which he is first appointed either substantively or in an officiating or temporary capacity. Qualifying service is computed on half-yearly or six-monthly basis. Partial period of three months or more will be considered as full half year or full six-month period.
Que (17) What is the effect of the qualifying service on pension calculation?
Ans :- If the Government servant retires after completing 33 years (66 half-year or six-months)of qualifying service , then he is eligible for full pension. At present, 50 percent of basic salary drawn on last month is the full pension. If the qualifying service is less than 33 years but more than 10 years then the pension entitlement will be determined in the proportion of service, which is based on following formula:
Basic salary drawn on last month * qualifying service in six months

Que (18) Is there any minimum amount of pension / family pension prescribed?
Ans :- The minimum amount of pension / family pension from the date 01.01.2016 is Rs. 7750 / - per month. Prior to this, the minimum pension was Rs 3025 / - per month.
Que (19) What is the effect of qualifying service on death cum retirement gratuity? What is the method of calculating it?
Ans :- Gratuity is payable only after completion of qualifying service of at least 5 years. It is payable for Every full half-year (six-month) of qualifying service (maximum 66 half-years) completed by the Government servant at the rate of one fourth (1/4) of the last month's basic payment (the basic pay + dearness allowance). Formula for calculation is : -
Basic pay of last month * qualifying service in six months

Que (20) Is there a minimum and maximum limit for the death cum retirement gratuity?
Ans :- Presently , on the qualifying service being 33 years (66 six months) or more , earnings of sixteen and half months(basic pay + DA) limited to rupees 20 lakh is payable.
If the government servant dies after completing the 5-years of qualifying service, then at least 12 months of earnings (basic pay + DA) will be payable.
Que (21) In case of death of the government servant, who will receive the amount of death cum retirement gratuity?
Ans :- In the case of the death of the Government servant, validly nominated person/persons of the government servant's family will be paid . In the absence of the valid nomination, the amount will be payable to the members of the family in equal shares.
Que (22) Can the government servant get the capitalized value of that part by surrendering a part of the approved basic pension?
Ans :- A government servant / pensioner can get a capitalized value of pension by commuting upto one third (maximum) of the authorized pension.
Que (23) Is there any age limit prescribed for the commutation of pension?
Ans :- An applicant can make a commutation of one-third of the pension from the next date of retirement, but before the age of 70 years or within 15 years from the date of retirement, whichever is earlier.
Que (24) Whether it is necessary to apply for reversal of the commuted portion of the pension or will it be automatically reversed?
Ans :- According to Rule 10 (2) of C.G. Civil Services (Computation of Pension) rule 1996, for the reversal of the commuted portion of the pension, application will be submitted to the concerned pension distribution officer (Treasury officer / bank) in the annexure C .
Que (25) Is there a provision for reversal of the commuted portion of the pension?
Ans :- On the first day of the coming month after 15 years from the date of commutation the commuted part of pension will be reversed.
Que (26) Will the family pension be payable after the death of a government servant?
Ans :- Family pension is payable after the death of Government servant, if the Govt. servant had joined the service with medical/fitness certificate.
Que (27) What will be the rate of family pension payable?
Ans :- If the qualifying service of 07 years has been completed by the deceased Government servant then the higher rate of family pension will be payable otherwise the normal rate will be payable.
Que (28) What is the higher rate and normal rate of family pension?
Ans :- On the higher rate of family pension, twice of the general family pension or half of the last salary whichever is less is payable. Higher rate will be payable for 7 years from the date of the death or completion of 67 years of Government servant, whichever is earlier, after which, family pension will be payable at the normal rate of 30 percent of last salary.
Que (29) To whom the family pension will be payable?
Ans :- Family pension will be payable to widow or widower till death or remarriage, whichever is earlier. In case of absence of the widow / widower, pension will be payable to the son /daughter unmarried or divorced till the age of 25 years or up to date of marriage/remarriage whichever is earlier.
Que (30) Is the family pension payable also to parents?
Ans :- If the deceased government servant did not have a widow/widower or a child, then dependent parents will be entitled to family pension under the criteria of income / dependency.
Que (31) Who is capable of issuing income and dependency certificate?
Ans :- Tehsildar or higher level revenue officer is the competent authority for issuing income and dependency certificate.
Que (32) Will the family pension of the Disabled Son / daughter will not be payable after attaining the age of 25 years?
Ans :- Firstly, all children will be entitled to family pension up to the age of 25 years, as per eligibility in orderly manner. Then after, a disabled child who is unable to earn a living, on fulfilling certain conditions, will get the family pension for lifelong.
Que (33) Will dearness relief be payable on pension / family pension?
Ans :- Yes, dearness relief will be payable at the rate announced by the government from time to time .
Que (34) Will the dearness relief be given even after the compassionate appointment of the family pensioner?
Ans :- No, the dearness relief will not be payable to the family pensioner appointed under compassionate appointment.
Que (35) What will be the process if the pensioner / family pensioner wants to get a pension outside of the C.G. State?
Ans :- For receiving pension outside of C.G. state , the head of office is required to attach anticipated pension ,statement of payment of anticipated death cum retirement gratuity along with date and certificate regarding closure of payment in future along with pension case.
Que (36) Is it mandatory to physically present in the treasury to get the first payment of pension / family pension?
Ans :- Earlier it was mandatory to present in the treasury, but in the process of e-PPO, the details of bank account will be availed by the government servant / family pensioner like name of bank branch, account no., Bank's IFSC code, Aadhaar number, PAN number, Aadhaar number affiliation with bank account, etc., and on receiving details of anticipated pension/gratuity payment and other information by Head of the office, the amount of pension / contribution will be trAnsferred directly to the bank account.
Que (37) Will the pensioner get information about this process?
Ans :- Information of each step of the new mechanism of e-PPO, such as preparation and sending the on-line pension case by the head of the office, receiving a pension case with the physical service boo , passing the pension case or objection, issuing pension payment orders, deposit of pension / gratuity in bank account by the treasury, trAnsfer of pension payment order to the concerned bank for the upcoming payment of pension can be obtained in pensioner's mobile number and e-mail ID .
Que (38) In case of death of the pensioner, what will be the process to start a family pension?
Ans :- On the death of the pensioner, family pension can be started on receipt of application in Form 42A along with death certificate by the family pensioner referred to in the payment order.
Que (39) Which bank branches can be used to get pension payments?
Ans :- For the provision of payment of state pension, the following Public Sector Banks, whose branches are located in Chhattisgarh, can be used for services: 1. State Bank of India
2. Central Bank of India 3. Bank of India 4 Punjab National Bank 5. Allahabad Bank 6. Bank of Maharashtra. 7. Union Bank of India. 8. UCO Bank 9.Dena Bank 10. Oriental Bank of Commerce
Que (40) If a pensioner gets married after the retirement, will her/his husband / wife and children born from them be eligible for family pension?
Ans :- It was not provided before the date 21 July 1995, but after that the provision has been made by the state government that if a pensioner gets married/remarried after retirement from service, it has to be informed to the head of office, from which the government servant was retired along with the attested copy of marriage certificate issued by the Registrar / District Magistrate in the prescribed form. After the proper verification by the head of office, the application will be sent to the respective Joint Director ,treasury Accounts and Pension , keeping in mind the rules 47 (7) (B) of C.G. Civil Services Pension Rule 1976, on which basis amendment will be issued.
